Along With Your First Steps You Can
Pray: Talk to God daily. He will hear you as you speak with Him. Also, be still before Him. Listen to what He desires to speak into your heart, soul, mind and spirit. He loves you.
Read the Bible daily and listen and do what God wants you to do.
a good place to start is in the book of John
then read the book of Acts and then Romans
Then the whole New Testament, then read through the whole bible Old and New Testaments – repeat regularly.
Before you begin reading – ask God to reveal things to you from His Word.
You may not understand everything – but keep reading, obey His Word
and ask questions (If you need a Bible we will get you one – please ask; email churchoffice@lighthouseniagara.com)
Go to a church that believes in the whole Bible: go regularly.
Tell someone what has happened to you or invite them to church.
Make sure you don’t go by your feelings.
some days you may not feel like a Christian;
on those days, start to thank God that He saved you and that you will live forever with Him.
Invite the Holy Spirit to give you power to change.
Surrender yourself to the Holy Spirit.
You might pray at the beginning of every day, “Lord, I yield myself to You. I give You the right to change me, to work in me, to work on me, and to work through me. Amen.”
If you sin, confess it to Jesus and ask Him to give you the strength to overcome temptation.
Remember – you are saved by your faith in what Jesus did for you on the cross. He loves you so much!
Realize that God isn’t finished with you. You have a future with Him!
1 John 1:9; 1 John 2:1,2; 1 Corinthians 10:13
Phillipians 1:6 says “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns."
Know that God loves you so much! 1 John 3:1
For A Victorious, Abundant Life Now
A. AS you Have received Christ…
1. Recognize that you have a heavenly Father that loves you - you have been born of God
John 1:11-13
11 He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him(Jesus), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1 John 3:1-2
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
2. Keep your faith in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified daily.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5
And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Romans 1:16-17
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
1 Corinthians 1:18
18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
Colossians 1:19-23
For it pleased the Father that in Him(Jesus) all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him(Jesus) to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight— 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
3. God has a plan and purpose that is specific for you! Submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ in Your Life! Follow Him!
Luke 9:23-26
23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.
Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works(our own effort), lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Hebrews 13:20-21
20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
